New Airbnb Cancellation Policy Changes
Body
Hi [first name]!
We’re writing to inform you about upcoming changes to Airbnb’s cancellation policies, effective January 20, 2025, which may impact your listings.
Key Changes to Cancellation Policies
1. New 24-Hour Free Cancellation Period
Reservations booked on or after January 20, 2025, will automatically include a 24-hour free cancellation refund period for guests for listings in the following countries:
- Argentina
- Canada
- Chile
- Colombia
- Morocco
- Netherlands
- Philippines
- Poland
- South Africa
- Sweden
- Turkey
Existing bookings made before this date will follow the current cancellation policies.
2. Introduction of the New Limited Policy
The Limited policy allows guests to cancel up to 14 days before check-in for a full refund.
3. Strict Policy Sunset
- The Strict policy will no longer be available after January 20, 2025.
- Hosts with a Strict policy on their current listings will automatically be converted to the Firm policy unless they opt out and choose to keep Strict before January 20, 2025.
- If you change your cancellation policy from Strict in the future, you will not be able to switch back.
- If you add a new listing after January 20th, you will not be able to select Strict for that listing, even if you are grandfathered in with other listings. The new listing will default to the new Firm Policy.
Host Actions Required To Opt-Out:
1. Log in to Airbnb and visit the Today Tab.
2. Complete the task prompting you to make a selection regarding your cancellation policies.
3. Once you’ve made your selection, the task will disappear from the Today Tab, confirming completion.
We recommend logging into your Airbnb account to review your cancellation policy settings and making any necessary adjustments before January 20, 2025. You can visit Airbnb's "Updates to listing cancellation policies" support doc to learn more.
