For an overview on OwnerRez Widgets, widget setup, etc. look at the Setting up widgets for inquiries, bookings and availability.
Note: this guide is oriented around setup of widgets for a couple of properties. If you've got many properties and want a parameterized setup that is possible but a bit more complex. Contact us and we'll walk you through that process.
Widget Setup
This step assumes you've already created a page where you want to embed OwnerRez widgets. If you have the Wix hotels app installed, you may want to remove that by deleting the Rates & Availability page.
For complete instructions, follow the instructions on the Wix Editor: Embedding a Site or a Widget Help Center article.
Common Issues and Questions
What Wix plan is required to support widgets?
While the OwnerRez widgets will display on the Wix free plan, there are some navigation limitations because of security restrictions Wix imposes in the free plan. For example, when clicking the "Book Now" button in the booking widget, the booking page will only open inside the widget container rather than the entire page. The paid Wix plans remove the security features so the booking page will navigate the entire browser as expected.
What's this "filesusr.com" domain I'm seeing in my Custom Sources?
"filesusr.com" is a Wix domain. Anytime you insert html code on your Wix site, they host just that html code from yourdomain-com.filesusr.com. You are seeing it because you have widgets embedded on your Wix site, and we recently released an update to automatically create new Custom Sources from incoming widget traffic based on the domain from which it comes. You can read more about that here.
If you're finding the "filesusr.com" label annoying, the quickest solution for you is to simply assign a name to the newly created custom source here. The name has to be unique, but you can make it something like "DirectBNB 2" so it's clear it's still your Wix site.
I am trying to set up an OwnerRez widget in Wix that will open to a new page with the results but it's not working.
Currently, this seems to be a limitation with Wix's site builder. This issue is happening because Wix embeds widgets inside an extra iframe in their site design, which means that the widget on the destination page doesn't have access to the criteria sent by the original page. If Wix is able to remove that extra iframe then that would allow the widgets to communicate, but other than that the only other solution would be to show the results in the same widget.
