PetScreening streamlines pet and animal management across properties, enabling you to maximize revenue, optimize occupancy rates, screen assistance animals, and reduce risk.
The PetScreening integration with OwnerRez allows PetScreening to import properties and bookings from OwnerRez. This integration ensures that guests can submit pet and animal information for a specific booking, giving you the tools to enforce property policies effectively.
Steps for Integration
Connect PetScreening to OwnerRez
- Already have an account? Sign in to PetScreening.
- New to PetScreening? Request a demo to get started.
- Navigate to Settings → Integrations in PetScreening.
- Click "Connect" on the OwnerRez integration tile.
- A popup will appear with more information about the integration—click "Link with OwnerRez" to proceed.
- Sign in to OwnerRez (if prompted) and click "Authorize PetScreening."
- You’ll then be redirected back to PetScreening.
Configure Properties
- Go to the Properties page in the left navigation. You will now see properties imported from OwnerRez.
- Configure the "Reservation Type" setting for each property to determine which reservations should be processed through PetScreening:
- "All guests" (Recommended): All reservations for the property will be added to PetScreening, requiring every guest to complete the PetScreening process. This ensures any pets or assistance animals are properly identified.
- "Guests with animals": Only reservations that include a pet or animal in the booking will be displayed in PetScreening. Guests without animals will not go through PetScreening.
- "None": Bookings for the property will not be imported into PetScreening. Use this option to exclude specific properties from PetScreening.
Once properties are configured and policies are updated, the integration is ready to go! The next time a guest books, PetScreening will import the information and send OwnerRez a unique Guest URL for the guest to complete their pet/animal screening (details below).
Getting Guests Started
Each time a guest books, PetScreening generates a unique Guest URL and sends it to OwnerRez. This link allows the guest to complete the PetScreening process for their booking, with status updates sent back to OwnerRez.
How to Share the URL with Guests
- You are responsible for ensuring guests receive their PetScreening Guest URL (via email, in-app message, SMS, etc.).
- The URL is stored in OwnerRez as a Custom Field, with the value populated at the time of booking.
- The URL is also accessible from the PetScreening Reservations page—click the kebab menu next to a reservation and select "Copy guest link."
Automating Guest Notifications
- Set up templates and automated triggers in OwnerRez to send guests their PetScreening Guest URL automatically.
- Recommended Trigger: Send the Guest URL when the "PetScreening Not Started" tag is added to a reservation. This ensures the link is defined and that settings between OwnerRez and PetScreening are aligned.

Tracking Pet Approvals
There are two primary ways to track pet/animal submissions and identify any required actions:
1. OwnerRez Status Tags
- PetScreening adds status tags to OwnerRez bookings, mirroring the PetScreening submission progress.
- Most pets are automatically approved, but if action is required, you will see tags like "1 Pet Not Recommended."
To review submission details and approve/decline pets, log in to PetScreening.
2. Email Notifications
- Opt-in to email notifications per property to receive alerts when a pet/animal requires approval.
- Clicking the email notification will take you directly to the PetScreening page where action is needed.
BetterPet Passport™
PetScreening utilizes BetterPet Passport™, a new pet/animal owner application that allows guests to create a “passport” for their pet(s) and apply for “visas” when traveling with them. They can also confirm they are not bringing any pets.
👉 Make sure guests know to expect to see “BetterPet” when sending them the PetScreening Guest URL.

Data Sent by PetScreening to OwnerRez
- Unique Guest URLs: Each booking is assigned a PetScreening Guest URL, stored as a custom field in OwnerRez. Guests must use this link to submit pet/animal information.
- Status Tags: PetScreening updates each reservation with status tags in OwnerRez to track progress.
- Tags generally progress from “Not Started” to “Approved” automatically.
Tags alert you to bookings requiring approval (e.g., "1 Pet Not Recommended").
