Hello Chris,
I'm talking way over my head here because I have never used OR for emails.
So, I can set up the system to send one email to two different email addresses. I have created custom field definitions for Signer 1 Initial and Signer 2 Initial, Signer 1 Signature and Signer 2 Signature, etc.
I make up an email that invites them both to sign and it will have the same URL to click on. The rental agreement will pop up and I will have told one person they are Signer 1 and the other person they are Signer 2 and with that info, they will sign and initial in the appropriate places.
Is that how it would work?
Thanks,
Teena
Two emails is the only way to do it right now. It doesn't have to actually be separate emails -- you need two people to click the link and separately sign it. The link is the same and will record whoever signs the agreement, so they just need to both do it.
Ahh, normality. Soon, hopefully!
1) Yep, we're planning another widget for the rate details/terms for sure. Now that we've got the multi month calendar with a "show rates" option, the details want to be a separate widget. That way you can do either the multi month calendar widget OR the rate table widget (or both), and then also separately show the terms.
Some of them can be derived automatically from the payment dates and rules, taxes, guest fees etc. Others would be outlined in the rate notes.
2) For amenities, we've thought about that but the problem is if we put it in a widget then it's going to affect the SEO on your site. Google doesn't search stuff in widgets as well as they do things that are written out directly on the site which is why we've so far avoided making widgets for the content parts that you do want to SEO.
You mean the Owner Statements? Yes, those will be getting some custom columns as well, in addition to the pre-built views that are there now.
I host large groups at my lodge and have always required two signers plus both have to initial every page of the agreement.
I saw a post about adding custom fields to my rental agreement for initials, but not how to add a second signer, which would require sending the agreement to two emails.
Help! :)
Thanks,
Teena from gorgeous NH!
Whenever life returns to normal...
1) Maybe some sort of property-driven embeddable that outlines the booking deposit (due at booking), and when balance is due ( 30 days or 60 days etc prior to arrival).
All these are updatable on property level. Would be nice to be able to embed into website FAQ page so that people don't ask "what are your payment terms". And if I change parameters on the property, it would auto update on the website.
Or even better some sort of link in the inquiry widget where they can click and see some sort of a blurb saying that $300 is dues to book, and balance will be due May 1st.
2) I know I asked before. And it may exists for sites built on ownerez. But it would be great to have embeddable widget of "amenities", maybe some sort of tabular format.
reflecting fireplace, view, hot tub, games room etc. basically amenities we check off on property set up. Instead of me writing bullet lists.
If you go to the "Support" tab and put in your search terms it will return Forum posts and other things which match.
It would be great to be able to put in search terms and find all related posts regarding those search terms. Most of the questions we have others have as well.

Any way to get a text message when a booking comes in...Sending a text to yourself when a booking comes in might be simple depending upon your cell carriers.
In my case I use ATT wireless, so I can send an email to my phone number 512-111-2222@mms.att.net and within a minute or so it appears on my cell phone as a text.
To do this yourself
1) search internet for Email to Text gateway sprint (replace sprint with your cell carrier) and look for the email address
you should find something like that looks similar to 512-111-2222@mms.att.net with the phone number before the @
2) Create an email template to be triggered on new booking, and just plop the email address with your phone number into the to: field
I find that the Line Item Pivot Report is very useful; I use it a lot.
However, I'd like to request that a "status' option be added to the report so that cancelled bookings are identified like they are on the detailed booking report.
With all of the Covid-19 booking cancellations it would be helpful to be able to quickly identify which bookings on the Line Item Pivot report are still active and which are cancelled.
Thank you for your consideration.
Would this include being able to add columns to the Owner/PM reports? One of my owners wants a "Number of Nights" column--it's not impossible to figure it out by comparing the check-in and check-out dates, but just displaying it would make it easier for her.
I second the need for this!
We have a plan to allow adding extra columns to reports. There are a number of places where that would be very useful. No specific schedule for that, alas.
Unfortunately, not at present. That was scheduled for this summer, until everyone's schedule got thrown all over. It's still on the development list though.
Yes, we actually talk about that on the Discount Codes support page:
https://www.ownerrez.com/support/articles/discount-codes
You know you can set up discount codes? Maybe set up unique discount codes and use that way.
Any way to get a text message when a booking comes in...
Any update on gift certificates or the ability to text when you get a booking?
If OR could add the ability to Trigger a message based on the contents of a Custom Field, that could work.
I am trying to reduce the size of our emails to just essentials and really don't want to include multiple languages in one message, except in 1 or 2 of the initial messages letting them know it is an option.
We saw a big uptick last year in bookings from people who spoke Spanish, but very limited English. Communication in those cases was severely lacking and we need to improve that. At the moment, we do it manually, which is not ideal.
We have Spanish versions of all of our message content so if I could add a criteria to a Trigger, I could duplicate triggers 1 for English and 1 for Spanish.
IF [CUSTOM FIELD] contains " " (something like if BXLANG contains SP)
Without knowing the underlying architecture, even a Boolean would be okay as it would give us an option for 1 alternate language. That would be an improvement.
Hi, vrdoctor! This topic has been covered pretty extensively in the Facebook group "Unofficial Ownerrez Support Group." Basically, you have to go in and set up Custom Field Definitions. Those fields need to be marked as a "Required Entry" during quote acceptance so they will show up when the guest is sent the form to sign the Rental Agreement. You set up a Custom Field for each clause. Give the Facebook group a look and then let everyone know what we can do to help. Also, this Forum exchange might help: https://www.ownerrez.com/forums/general-help/help-with-required-fields-in-rental-agreement
The current booking workflow hids the rental agreement within a scroll window which does not require renters to scroll to the bottom before signing. In order to support clauses such as binding arbitration and cancellation policy and liquidated damages, a renter must be read and acknowledge the section by initialling or signing that section specifically. It would be great if we had an option to show the entire rental agreement on one page and require guests to initial or sign additional sections before proceeding.
We would want to have guests initial the section stipulating no smoking, no animals, our occupancy rules, our cancellation policy and binding arbitration clauses before signing the entire agreement. This is not only to protect us from a legal standpoint but also to call attention and make sure that guests actually read and acknowledge these sections. We use our rental agreement not only for enforcement, but mainly as a screening tool to dissuade people who would likely break our policies and and cause damage to our property.
As a short term workaround it would be better to at least require guests to scroll to the bottom of the rental agreement (and/or click a button at the bottom of the agreement before the signature window can be filled in). In the current format a guest can state that they did not understand that the rental agreement was several pages and that they were only agreeing to the visible portion within the scrolling window.
You should also be able to find it in the Report > Detail Report > Line Item Pivot. You can filter this depending on what you're looking for.
It is already there. Go to booking. Transactions tab. on the bottom there is "airbnb host fee"
Hello. Just wanted to ask if it would be possible to incorporate the host fee on the charges tab of Airbnb bookings. This would be greatly beneficial for accounting purposes on the QuickBooks end. Currently, I have to go back and add in to each "invoice" the host fee line to make the invoice accurate and be able to match the actual Airbnb Payout. Just wondering if that would be a possibility or if it could perhaps be added as on option for those us that use the QuickBooks feature and manage a large number of properties.
The existing Payment Detail report is lacking columns that would help tremendously
- Reservation ID
- Status (Booked, Cancelled)
- Cancellation Date
- Booking Date
I realize that I can get these by pulling in different report(s) from OR and doing index(match()) in excel but that's hard to do even when you know what you're doing in Excel. Especially hard when you manage accounts for different people and slice/dice your data differently.
There is actually something you can do to insert screenshots into forum posts if you know how to do it...
Use a BB style img tag. So in other words say:
The forum will auto-translate that into showing a center-aligned image at that spot. The URL inside the tag has to actually reference a real image (png, jpeg, etc) which means your screenshot needs to be hosted somewhere.
This sucks, of course, and we plan to upgrade the forums to property insert images and other formatting and a bunch of other things. We actually plan on merging in our ticket system as well. But as Ken said every time we get ready to do it, a bigger thing comes along that, well... is bigger.
Totally get it. Prioritys prioritys. Not to worry. You all are spot on with helping and it's certainly appreciated.
We've long planned to overhaul our forums, but every time we get close, something happens that forces us to concentrate on other things. :-(
This is a longstanding and well-known need. It had been our hope to add this capability later this year, but right now we are having to emphasize immediate functions that help our clients deal with the current chaos in the vacation rental business. It's still a high-priority feature though, and will certainly be done at some point.
That's a good idea, but it would be a fairly significant change. It may come along down the road a bit though.
