On the Templates or Triggers settings page, you'll see a checkbox next to each template or trigger. When you check the template or trigger you want to delete, you will see a Delete button appear at the top. Just click that Delete button.

If there are messages associated with the trigger, you won't be able to delete the trigger. Instead, you can disable the trigger by going in to the trigger and scrolling all the way to the bottom of the screen. You'll see a Status Enabled checkbox. If you uncheck the box, the trigger will be disabled and won't show up by default in the listing of all active triggers.

Thank you so much! How can you delete a template? I keep getting a message saying it cannot be deleted.

Hi Jen:

If there are messages associated with the trigger, you won't be able to delete the trigger. Instead, you can disable the trigger by going in to the trigger and scrolling all the way to the bottom of the screen. You'll see a Status Enabled checkbox. If you uncheck the box, the trigger will be disabled and won't show up by default in the listing of all active triggers.

I was going to post the same question.  I'd suggest one enhancement to the response you have received.  Disabling a trigger is fine but I'm a bit OCD and don't like even inactive triggers confusing my options.  It turns out you can "recycle" the trigger.   Change the associated template associated with the trigger and change the criteria.  Voila

Hi, my triggers do not have a status box, and are unable to be deleted because they give me a message saying they are still tied to a historical template.

Hi Erin! We've just recently updated our triggers to expand the range of customization for messaging so this does look quite different now. Go to Settings>Triggers>Select Trigger>Disable

I am trying to delete a template with a trigger asoociated with it, but because the template has historical messages I can't delete the template. The trigger associated with it can't be deleted because there is an email associated with it and there is no status enable box at the bottom of the trigger page. How can I delete this template I know longer want sent to my future guests?

Hi Nadine,

Generally we recommend disabling over deleting, disabling at the surface level will function more or less the same way as deleting will. The template will no longer be visible or be used by the system, the benefit however is that you will be able to review or re-activate that template should you need it in the future.

If you're adamant on deleting it however, please reach out to our helpdesk and provide the template in question so we can take a look at what exactly is holding up that template for you.

I cannot disable or delete a trigger due to historial messages.  Not sure what to do here.  I need some assistance.

Hi Michael!

If the email template that's associated with the trigger is still active, this could be why you cannot disable the trigger. Try disabling the email template first, and then see if you can disable the trigger. This support article goes over how you can disable email templates: https://www.ownerrez.com/support/articles/email-templates#delete

I would like to delete templates & triggers because we started out with many more than we are using now.  I have disabled the templates and triggers I'm not using but, I would like to completely purge them to avoid confusion. When I add a new one, it's extremely difficult to find when it's still inactive due to having to look through all the old, unused templates & triggers.   I have reached out to the help desk and was told it's not possible to delete them and to post my request here.

you can create a customer filter for only enabled templates/triggers; that way disabled ones will not be shown on the respective page

The problem I'm encountering is that I am completely redoing my communication set up and the new triggers are currently disabled until I'm ready to begin using them.  Whenever I go back to my new triggers, I have to sort through 5 pages of disabled triggers and that is not only confusing, but time consuming.  I finally got smart and labeled all of the new triggers as **NEW** so I could easily locate them.  I would just like to be able to delete the ones I will never use again and I think we should have that option.

if I remember correctly they are not deletable because old messages are still associated with them.

That is true, however most of my triggers haven't been used in months, with no upcoming reservations tied to them.  I have triggers for a property that I haven't owned in years. There is definitely nothing associated with these triggers and it won't allow me to delete them.
