You can already run a line item pivot or line item detail report to see where the charge was used.
Admittedly, this isn't ideal - we have a design to create a separate report for this purpose.

You pretty much nailed it - the 2 payments was built into the original code. We definitely understand that this needs to change, and it will, but it's a major rework effort that hasn't quite made it…

You don't have to charge 50% when the booking is made, you just have to charge something. You could set it to 10% or even 1%.
