I don't agree - I'm looking to send an email that is *always* sent the day before departure and contains a clear statement about whether or not the cleaning is back to back.
Just using a trigger for no gap in adjacent nights would trigger either for gap=yes or gap=no, but I want the email sent in all cases.
The reason I'm asking for a better custom field is for clear communication to the cleaner, for instance, this is what I'm trying right now:
==> "This booking currently may have these adjacent nights: {BADJOPEN} "
The problem is that BADJOPEN returns awkward language like this: night before (arriving 9/25) and night after (departing 10/1)
I'm wanting a field like BNXTOCC that would return the following:
- back to back cleaning: "A BACK to BACK cleaning is required on departure day 10/11/2019. Next guest will arrive by Xpm on same day"
- not back to back cleaning: "Next scheduled guest for this property arrives in XX days (10/17/2019)
Yep @BlueMtnCabins! You can do this by making a trigger that occurs at a scheduled time, 1 day before booking has departed. And then use the criteria of adjacent available nights: no gap.
Have you considered giving the cleaners portal access accounts so they can see the calendar directly? https://www.ownerrez.com/support/articles/portal-access -- that may also help cleaners plan things out better as they will be able to visually see the calendar instead of having to rely on catching an email in time.
I think you can do it by specifying conditions on trigger.
I'd like to send an email on day before departure to my cleaner, with a clear statement about whether the property is booked again on the same day, hence a "back to back" booking.
This would be very useful to my cleaner since they create their cleaning schedule based on prioritizing back to back cleanings.
Tim, are those icons native to your website builder or did you buy/find them somewhere?
You are too hard on yourself. Those look awesome!
Yeeeeeeesssssssss! Just as I have gotten a new email marketing system up and running!

A little birdy told me that we're looking into an initial version of discount codes, hopefully will be very soon!here are some. I do not like them being color, but maybe there is B&W version https://creativemarket.com/creativebythesea/236073-Vacation-Rental-Hotel-Vector-Icons

Yep, that looks really good!Do you have any idea about a good icon pack for VR? That's the thing we've run up against in the past trying to do this -- there are a couple hundred amenities and for a widget like this to look good they all need individual icons and the icons need to have a consistent style.
# of bedrooms
Hot tub
Fireplace
Views (wooded or mountain or water view or city etc (or more than one like: mountain and wooded)
# sleeps
No pets/yes pets
WiFI
Security cameras
Grill
patio/deck furniture
Firepit
bathrooms (number and icon)
dinning for (number)
Central heat/ac
family friendly
parking (nbr of cars)
billiards table
Ping pong table
Air hockey
Foosball
Games console
neighborhood friendly (no music/noise icon?)
full kitchen
Dining for #
Number of king beds
Number of queen beds
Number of other beds
Cable/ satellite TV
Pool ( private or shared)
Beach access
These come to mind, open to ideas?
Yep, this is on our list!

I understand you're working on this for other sites, but what about a personal website thru OR? Maybe you could start with OR hosted sites? Hahahaaa! How selfish was that?!?
So i am back to this., I found some in my website builder tool, but I am not really happy with them as they are not scaled right (and I can only adjust them so much) and they are not VR relevant. Would be awesome if checking off of amenities generated widget embed with proper icons and short text. But I am dreaming. here is my site, see what I am talking about icon wise smoky-mountains-cabin.com/rvl
It would be great if there was an option to automatically add an expense, for example on monthly basis. Thank you!
Yep, still on the list and getting closer :-)
Right now you can either have them ask in an inquiry and apply the discount. Or you could do this with a landing page and a special widget:
a) Go to Settings > Channel Connections and create a custom source, like "my friendly discount"
b) Go to Settings > Widgets and create a book now widget. Set it's listing site to the source you created in (a) and create a hidden page with that widget on it.
c) Go to Settings > Surcharges & Discounts and create a discount with a listing site criteria that only applies to the source you created in (a)
That will auto apply that discount to anybody booking through that page -- then you just share that link with guests to make the booking.
We were trying to figure out how to give our guests a coupon for a third night's rental... is this still on the list of things to implement?
Yep, you can do that with the API integrated channel settings but that requires the 5 property minimum for VRBO.
We have contemplated doing something like this on the iCal, but iCal links are already a bit persnickety. It could be even more confusing if there were multiple versions of an iCal for a single property with different links to add to each channel.
Technically it would be easy to add an extra block in there, but we want to come up with a way that doesn't confuse -- we already have occasional issues with folks adding the wrong iCal to the wrong property.
It strikes me, though, that you don't actually need the block to be in the same iCal. If you one OwnerRez iCal with the blocks from OwnerRez and then had a second iCal you generated somehow just with that 90 days out block, you could import both of them into VRBO and it'd solve the problem.
This is a good thought!
We are also looking at ways we can automate the reports better, perhaps scheduling an email with a report, or giving access in the portal. No ETA on any of that yet though.
Yep, we're in talks with them, but waiting for them to build an API before we can do integration other than the email stuff you're using now.
I would love to see integration with TouchStay. We currently have an email template that sends guests the link for the digital guidebook. However, we can't include the door code in Touchstay since we don't want them to have access to that until the day of arrival. There is no way to limit access to certain areas of it if the guide book is sent as a link. I can't remember why but that's what TouchStay told us.
Would be super awesome to have a custom field which returns a formatted table of upcoming arrivals and departures dates for a given property, including a notation about which are back to back (no available nights between bookings)
The table could be hard coded to return bookings in the next month
I'd include it in each new booking alert going to myself and my cleaner, and I'd probably also use it in each alert sent on departure days.
I have all my calendars set to allow bookings to a max of 350 days out. But with VRBO switching me to "delayed payments" like ABB does I would like to block them for any bookings over 90 days out. I think for now I have to do it manually as they don't allow that much flexibility on their end with advanced bookings. Any chance of getting a per-sync booking restriction?
Yes, there is actually. 😉 We have a spot rates "calendar style" editor coming out in a few weeks. It's been in testing for awhile. It will allow you to quickly see and select date ranges on a calendar and set amount and min. night. These will be "spot rates" which override seasonal rates in our system.
No discount codes yet, but still very important on our To Do list. We keep getting MORE important stuff that pushes it back (right now the big important thing is our Airbnb API integration) but we do care about it and plan to release it.
Is there anyway to get a rates calendar similar to what VRBO and Houfy has where you just click the dates on the calendar and set your price. The way it is done on the ownerrez site now is really confusing and its easy to make a mistake. I would also like the ability to offer a discount code to guests to use but I know that has been discussed for years now but can't find it anywhere. I seen a post from 2012 that said it would hopefully be an option by the end of the year so if its there please let me know how to use it so I can start sendimng those out. Thank You
We don't have any way to integrate with z-wave locks directly yet. We do integrate with RemoteLock and they have the capability to access z-wave locks through Vera.
Any update on integrating Z-Wave locks?
We don't have a hard date right now, but hoping by the end of the year.
Any time set as of yet to when texting may be available?
