Thanks for the feature request.
I don't know if you know this (you very well might) but we have a widget already that lets your guest plug in dates and get a rate quote (or add more information and fully checkout).
Did you know about that one?

Select the arrival/departure date and # adults and you'll get an instant rate estimate. As you add more adults and such, it will adjust, including showing where there are rule violations.
A lot of users are getting direct bookings this way now.

A huge upgrade would be making the OR calendar interactive so owners or guests could click on arrival and departure dates to get an instant quote with a book and a quote button. See my website galvestonbeachcondos.Com availability tab at the top, that currently has the logic calendar with this feature. I didn't use it at first, but now I refer travelers to it all the time and get a lot of bookings this way. It doesn't require the guest's info to quote.
This is something we have on our to-do list, but it's not in place yet. Ideally, it'd be a setting on surcharge that makes it selectable for the guest during checkout.
I might consider delivering firewood and providing linens if customers could add this on during checkout.

We do have a "Has Problem" flag on the Notes tab. That lets you flag a guest as problematic, or as having a problem that needs to be fixed. In the past, like Sam pointed out, we were only showing the "Has Problem" flag on the booking it affected, even though we were showing the "Repeat Guest" flag across bookings.
I just pushed up a new update that makes the "Has Problem" flag visible in the same location where the "Repeat Guest" flag used to show. Repeat Guests tracks based on email address, so we now show "Problem Guest" if its a repeating guest that has a previous booking with "Has Problem" flagged.
Now you can see if you have a repeat guest or a problem guest on bookings, quotes, and inquiries. Click on the "Repeat Guest" or "Problem Guest" badge to see a list of related bookings.
@Jacques: We don't have a specifically-programmed feature to handle black listing people but it's definitely a great idea. Others have asked for black lists before. I think the standard way is to use the notes field. I don't know if you noticed, but there is a Repeat Guest badge that shows up on all inquiries and quotes in the overview area when the email address is recognized from a previous record. ~Sam
Is there any way to keep track of people I don't want to rent to again? There is a notes section on each stay. If the same email address inquires again, it would be nice if those notes showed up somehow, so I could turn down the bad people.
Cool. I suppose I could do this right now with the custom booking fields and the email template.

We've wanted to do text messages for awhile now - you're right a great feature to have. The idea is to make "Text Templates" which are similar to Email Templates. They wouldn't have headers like emails (subject, from, etc), the body would be plain text and probably have a character limit. Then you could set triggers to send those instead of Email Templates. Crazy idea...if we made cell phone number required and asked for carrier (optional if they opt in for receiving texts) then we could enable texting to guests from owner reservations.
Things like getting a text message on the day of arrival with a hyperlink with directions for example or a text message with the key code...
I think it would be a "wow" feature for guests.

We've had reports from people who were able to call VRBO and get the email proxying and obfuscation turned off. That's worth a try, all though it may take going through several people over there to get it done.

HomeAway sent out an email to that effect, but we're not seeing it implemented in practice, at least for most people. Are you actually seeing the email address blocked when you get the inquiry in OwnerRez?
We're working on a new "Property Manager" integration with HomeAway via their API. That should solve all of these issues, including a full inquiry API channel, calendar sync, and integration of HomeAway Book Now with OwnerRez. I don't have a firm date yet, but we're projecting feature complete by the end of the month.

VRBO just disabled the ability to automatically pass the real email address into OwnerReservations. Getting the real email address is pure gold from a marketing perspective.
Would it be possible to force the "real" email address when someone is booking so we have their real contact information for future interactions? Is there any other way to get the real email address into the inquiry (I notice it is available from VRBO's site).
I really don't want to be at the mercy of VRBO to contact my guests!

I understand. Maybe one that limits to show the ammount that is still clearly visible? A legend attached to the calendar showing colors attached to property names would be useful too. Looking forward to it in the future :)

Yes, I know exactly what you mean. We don't have a public widget for that yet, but we plan on releasing one. Others have asked for the same thing. Keep in mind that the calendar widget can only hold a certain maximum amount of multiple properties do to the inherent space limits. A "ribbon" design can extend down the page, vertically, with unlimited properties. A calendar can only hold 8 or 10 properties before each day cell runs out of space. If have 3 or 4 properties, you wouldn't notice this problem. With more properties, it starts to become a problem.

Great question! At the moment, we don't have a setting to turn off that Pet field. But you can always set your property rule to not allow pets. Then, when the guest goes to click 'Book Now' or 'Send Inquiry', the form will tell them that pets aren't allowed.

What I have in mind, is the view that we have when we click on "bookings" tab here. Calendar opens and all the properties are on it.
Do you plan on having a calendar widget that would display all the properties?
I do not like the ribbon option but would love to show them on one calendar :)

It would be great if we had an option to pick if we want to show "pets" on the inquiry form when we edit the widget.
For example, if I don't allow pets, there is no reason for me to show that on the form. In fact, it would only bring in unwanted inquiries.
Please let me know if there are ny chance for that option to be implemented. :)

At the moment, we don't offer any out-of-the-box widgets for that, but I know what you're talking about and it's something we plan on supporting. There are several types of calendars: the one you mentioned where multiple properties show up together and then a full page display that shows the same thing with some filtering capability.
Is it possible to display the Calendar widget on an external website but default to the ribbon view displaying ALL my properties? I want to give people the ability to see what's available across 8 different properties all on the same complex in the calendar vs. having to scroll through 8 calendars.
Let me know if you have any ideas or work-around to make this scenario possible!

This is a request we've chewed on before. I'd say about 10% of our users are in this situation - one listing on VRBO but it represents 3 or 4 actual units. Then in our system, they have Unit 1, Unit 2, etc.
There are a couple problems with doing this...
1) It is impossible to parse inquiries to the exact right property in our system so you're always having to assign it after the fact manually.
2) Any calendar syncing could only ever be 1-way. We could write logic that would turn off availability if ALL your units were booked but that would never work in the opposite direction.
At the moment, OwnerRez only does 1-way syncing, but we are actively working on a larger 2-way syncing system as part of some fundamental changes to work with the walled garden listing sites that everything is turning into.
It's definitely something we'll continue to think about, but it's not an easy cat to skin.
