Search for bookings by using only part of a name

When doing a search for bookings, it would be helpful to allow for using partial names rather than needing to type either the whole first or whole last name completely (and therefore with the exact and correct spelling).

Situation #1) Because often times guests have oddly spelled names, so if you're off by a letter or two, currently nothing comes up in your search and you're kind of screwed for the search of that reservation.

Example 1... last name is Mersekowitzski and I don't remember the first name. (Seriously, we get alot of Polish, German and Russian based names for guests who's family roots are from Wisconsin, Minnesota and North Dakota... you betcha, don't cha know.) So, if I'm able to type in just part of the name, it's tremendously helpful.

Example 2... last name Kroger, Kroeger, Kreger, Kreuger, Kruger, Krueger, and I don't remember the first name. But if I can type in just "Kr" then I don't have to remember the exact, correct spelling or version of their last name.

Example 3... first name is Krystin or Christofer or Jennefer and I don't remember the last name.

Situation #2) Because often times owners will forget a person's name but will remember part of it.

Example 1... using our friends from the north above, "Their last name is Mer-something." Or, "Their last name ends in 'witz' or 'ski.'"

Example 2... "I think her name was Carol, or Catherine, or Cathy, or Cassie? And I don't remember the last name (or how to spell it).

Example 3... "I think the last name was McDougal, or McDonald, or McIntyre, or McKenzie?"

So in all these situations, it's tremendously helpful to be able to search by only part of a name and see what reservations fit that broad search. Then by scrolling through the list, we'll be able to recognize the name we're looking for.

And if possible, having the ability to type in part of the first and last names is useful too.

Example... when searching common last names like Johnson, and the guest's name is Joseph Johnson, its useful being able to type "J John" (or "John, J" if it has to be set up with a last name first functionality) to filter out all the Johnsons whose first name doesn't start with J. Or if you remember the guest's first name is John and that the last name starts with an M, being able to type "John M" (or M, John), again, helps to whittle down the search results when common names are involved.

All of our previous software products had this feature, and it was a true life saver on weekly, if not a daily, basis.

Thank you so much!

Hi Danielle!

Currently, we do not support partial searches in the main search dialog. If you go to the Contacts section of your account or the list view of your bookings and do a partial search, you should be able to perform a partial search there.

Thank you for your reply.

The search function still does not allow partial searches in either of these two options. I did finally figure out that you have to use the filter feature to do your search.

Having said that, the Contacts option only brings you to a list of your conversations. That would be a useful solution if there were a link to the reservation in there. Is it possible to get that added?

Although it still seems like common sense to allow partial name searches.

Thanks,

Danielle

Hi Danielle,

From the Guest Record there is a link already there of any bookings, quotes, or inquiries associated to that record?

Let me show you where that is:

Hope this is helpful!
