Re the API connection to Vrbo and Booking.com - is it possible to sync only the availability calendar but not rates?

Direct bookings via our website will have different rates - and we won't be taking payment online - so we only want to display the availability calendar, as rates will be displayed separately on the site. Would rather not use iCal due to the limitations in sync frequency.

No, availability and rates will both sync via the API. If you need different rates on the channels v. your direct booking site, you can do a Rate Adjustment specific to the channel API connection. More on that here:
