Hello,
I was wondering if adding integration with Roku is something in OwnerRez's plan for the future. We have Roku devices, and we keep them in guest mode all the time. When we come to stay at our property, we have to disable guest mode, which is challenging for some family members. It would be great if guest mode were enabled for each booking and then disabled after the checkout day. Guest mode can be enabled/disabled remotely, so it should be possible to do this.
If something like this is not on the plans or is not of interest (too niche), does anyone have suggestions for workarounds or other ways to automate?
Cheers,
Acacio
We have found Guest Mode as implemented on Roku's to be a completely useless feature.
The challenge with guest mode on a Roku is that when one takes the Roku OUT of guest mode, all of the previous settings (how the Roku was setup before it was put into guest mode – logins, passwords, etc.) are completely lost. They ALL have to be re-entered from scratch, like one is setting up the Roku for the first time. This can take an hour of time on our Roku's including all of the streaming service logins we have. Multiply that by five TVs per property and this just becomes a huge headache. As a result, we never use guest mode, and don't make it available to guests at our properties.
We have found it far easier to just leave them setup in their original form, and create Guest profiles for the guest to use with each individual streaming service.
