I saw that there was plans for an app that guest download for checkin info, codes, property and suggestion info down the road a couple years ago, Any progress? If not can I get a list of these type of apps that OR integrates with? I am on vacation in Florida and the management co. Uses hospitality which is pretty user friendly.
I think this is a great idea, my guests hate having to go through their emails for all the information.
Hi Mike,
While we don't have a guest-facing app in OwnerRez itself, I believe some of our Guest Communication integration partners may have what you're looking for.
You can explore those available integrations here - https://www.ownerrez.com/integrations#GuestCommunication
I would actually prefer a simple guest portal link, so guests don’t have to go download a whole new app. Just one link with all their stay info, including access to the legal agreement & amenities list, etc. to bookmark until the end of their stay.
That definitely would be great, everything is too scattered into different apps at this point, in my opinion, I don't want a different app for every portion of my business, I feel OR should have that and true cleaning portal and accounting, I hate having to use a digital guidebook and separate cleaning app for information that's already in OR, just needs a way to present it, A guest portal that shows them all the info in one simple place would be awesome.
I agree, a guest portal link to their booking would be sufficient. An app is overkill.
I use TouchStay for this. I send them the link via email and repeatedly remind them to use this link and download as icon onto their phone. they can send to their guest. The app is linked up to OwnerRez and disables once guests checks out.
As we are working to re-design/overhaul the current guest forms, when all done, they will be able to function more like a booking portal that guests can reference pre-arrival, mid-stay (during), and after their stay.
Do you envision they will be able to send us messages through the portal instead of SMS/AIRBNB?
Haven't gotten that far down the road yet. We need to get all the guest forms redone, think about additional guest booking flow things that we need to add, and determine the path for guests authenticating into the "booking portal" (without the need to manage logins/passwords). Not necessarily in that order either.
To answer your question, I would say we don't envision anytime soon, if ever.
Why doesn't OwnerRez have an app for owners?
Since every part of the OwnerRez interface uses responsive design, no standalone app is necessary - you can use all OwnerRez services in your mobile phone browser.
There are a handful of screens that don't work well on small screens - those are part of the changes Shawn mentioned.
And, we are planning to release app-style popup notifications in the near future, which is the other remaining feature lacking in OwnerRez that's common in apps.
The lack of notifications specific to the interface is concerning. Currently they get lost in a sea of emails.
And my emails are often very delayed.
Yes, the upcoming app-like notifications are discussed in this engineering webinar:

So that should hopefully take care of that issue in the very near future!
I have this through Lynx. Guests get a portal link emailed and texted to them with the codes, the ability to lock and unlock the door remotely and even the ability to control connected devices like thermostats and garage door openers (if you have them as part of your subscription plan).
In two years, I'm not sure enough guests have used it to justify needing one.
